After a damp and cold first practice, and a cancelled opening day, finally, Christopher gets to play ball!
By the look out the window when we first woke up Thursday morning, foggy & cloudy, we wouldn't have thought that the day would turn out to be gorgeous, bright & sunny and temps in the mid seventies!
At 4:30pm, I called Christopher over to start getting him into his T-Ball uniform. It's very simple, a t-shirt with his team name, a paur of baseball pants, black cleats and a cap. Boy, was he excited to get to the field. When we first arrived there was only kids from the other team there. But slowly but surely his teammates and coaches started arriving. Before long, they were all out on the field practicing tossing the ball around.
It was the cutest thing watching them play. Of course like many 5 and 6 year old boys, they become easily distracted and start playing with the dirt, wondering what is under the base bags, and starting to play with each other. Each time they switched sides and they were up to bat, they would have to leave thier caps on the bench. Chris was so annoyed that his hat seemed to disappear. He got whiney and the tears came out. God bless the coaches that found ways to distract him. (We never did get his original cap, but I made it a point to write his name even bigger on the cap he did come home with.)
Aside from that, Chris totally enjoyed every minute of it! Such a difference from soccer last year. Where in soccer he would ask to be given a break 5 minutes into the game, T-ball....the coaches have to call Chris in from the field! He loves it! He came home, had dinner, a warm shower, and said he couldn't wait till Saturday's game!
If it’s not broken, don’t fix it
