After a wet but awesome weekend...(spent with in the wonderful company of my brother, friends, and family being obsessed playing TABOO!) the week came and went!
MONDAY- Mike decided to take a couple of days off before the school year officially starts in order to spend some much needed family time together. Of course since the week started the same way the weekend did (EXTREMELY WET), we had to alter our plans a bit. We wanted to take the kids to Blackbeard's Cave and CB Huntington's. But those plans had to be scratched since with the rain, the rides would be closed. We ended up printing out a coupon and taking the kids for lunch, fun and games at Chuck E Cheeses. Let's just say that.....EVERYONE had the same exact idea! The place was a mob! Needless to say we enjoyed our lunch and Leilani and Christopher had a blast playing. Afterwards we went next door to Barnes and Nobles for a little quiet time reading mags (Mike), playing with Thomas the Tank Engine (Chris), reading ballerina books (Lei) and picking up Disney Cruise tips (OF COURSE ME!!!!). And to end a delightful day Mike and I bought a Caramel Macciato from Starbucks...VENTE with lots of Caramel!
TUESDAY- I wake up bright and early, open up the windows and MORE RAIN!!!! RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!!! Is all I can help but sing. I tiptoed downstairs, and made a batch of my famous pancakes for the family. They slowly woke up to the aroma of vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg, and we sat down for breakfast. As we finished we washed up and got dressed. The rain wasn't going to hold us back from our plans to go to the NY State Aquarium. We drove to Brooklyn, parked and had a great 3 hours admiring the 100's of different variety of creatures of the sea. At that time our stomachs were growling for lunch and we set out to find a place to eat. Since we are not all that familiar with Brooklyn, and the only obvious places along the boardwalk of Coney Island would not be an excellent choice for a rainy day, we decided to go back on the highway and find another place. Mike knew of a Wendy's not too far away. We wish we would have waited to get closer to home because we were in line a whole 30 minutes!!!! Yes! This is suppose to be fast food, and there weren't that many people ahead of us....they just had ONE cashier! And the manager was working the drivethru, and couldn't have been more than 20 years old! THinking about it afterwards, we should've just gone through the drivethru, and then bring our food back inside, it would've been that much quicker!
WEDNESDAY- After hitting the 50% off sales at Target in the morning, we spent the rest of the day at home prepping for the Girl Scout Troop Open House I was having that evening. It is hard to believe that this is my 3rd year as Troop Leader! Amazing! I entertained 10 moms and told them what they will expect in the coming year. Everyone was satisfied and the girls were all looking forward to Girl Scouts starting up again!
Which leads me to today....After a lazy morning, I set out Leilani and Christopher's clothes, told them to get dressed and took them to the park to ride thier bikes. Christopher managed to ride his tricycle a whole 500 feet before saying "No, mommy I dont want to ride my bike". This after he realized that Mommy was not going to walk the whole track hunchback and pushing him around! So I waited for Leilani to finish her first lap around and went back to the car to get Christopher's stroller and put the bike back in the van. Leilani rode around the track about 8 times before her training wheels broke off. She fell in the mud and was upset not because she fell, but because her sandals got all muddy! Princess till the very end! They ended up playing with some friends of thiers in the playground before I told them it was time to go home.
It's hard to believe that the summer is over. This time next week, I will be neck deep in homework, prepping for the next school morning, and my own studies! It's Back to School!
