Happy Birthday Mom!

It was 52 years ago that my mom made her extremely quiet entrance to the world....so much so that they obstetrician laid a lifeless baby on my grandmother's belly and told her "Sorry, she is gone". My grandma began to weep and the obstetrician I am sure looked up with pity for the young mom and saw a gentle stirring. Can it be? So he picked up the baby girl and gave her a couple of swift slaps in the buttocks (yes they did this back in the days) and that jump started my mom. And she has been alive and kicking ever since! Happy Birthday Mom!

I woke up bright and early and gave her a call. She was getting ready to go to work. She said her brother was the first to call, then me. When I spoke to her later in the day she said that each of her children called her in birth order. Her boyfriend Modesto bought her a birthday cake in the evening and she cut her birthday cake with him and my sis and nephew. Us family in the Northeast had ice cream cones to share in the festivities.


Today, I decided to spend a nice lazy day at the beach with Leilani and Christopher. We packed sandwiches, snacks, and beverages...collected our sand pails, beach blankets and beach umbrellas and headed out. It was an extremely enjoyable 3.5 hours spent by the shore. The sky was the perfect color blue with nice fat puffy white clouds, the water was warm and delish, and the temperature was perfect! This is the reason I love God leading us to our little town. There is nothing like being able to drive 10 minutes to hear the sounds of the ocean!

Of course like the end of every beach outing, we came home and were beat! We took our bathes, donned our pj's and just bummed around till Mike got home and we had dinner. Then we all went to dreamland happy and sunkissed by a beautiful summer day!
