Another Picture Perfect Weekend.....

Ahhh, you gotta love these picture perfect weekends! I am so totally enjoying being able to sleep with the cool breeze coming in through the window, no AC, and being able to actually enjoy the great outdoors without the stinking humidity that makes me one miserable Mommy!

Since we had not made any official plans for Saturday, we decided that we would go to the beach. I wanted to head out early but Mike didn't budge. So we had a not so healthy breakfast of Bacon Egg and Cheese McGriddles from McDonalds (thier very best invention we devour it in seconds any time we eat it!) and Mike did a little yard work before seeing my pouty face that it was getting late finally convinced him that it was time for us to head out. There was EXTREME traffic along the way, which I figured seeing that it was a perfect day to just lounge around in the sand. We finally made it there by noon. We scoped out a good spot in the sand which was PACKED and settled down. The water was a bit rough, but otherwise not too cold and enjoyable. Leilani's friends Andie and Katie ended up settling in near us and she couldn't be happier! They ventured off along the edge of the water to collect...dead jellyfish! GROSS!!! At first they were running up to us and showing us thier finds which would gross me out each time till Amy, the girls mom, told them to take the bucket they were collecting them in closer to the water so that she and I did not have to actually see the slimy critters each and every time they would dump one in the bucket. At 3:45pm Mike and I decided that we had had a good enough day lounging around on the beach and made our way back home. On the way we stopped for ice cream at Dairy Queen. Mike and I split a yummy Choco Cherry Love Blizzard! YUM YUM!

This morning we slept in late and had breakfast and did some odds and ends around the house before heading over to watch our local Triple A minor league team play. the kids played at the playground and we set up our blankets in thier general admission area and settled in for the game. It was our first time being in that area and we have to say we really enjoyed it. Especially with Christopher who could get antsy having to sit in a seat the whole time. This allowed him to lay down, sit down, run around the grass barefoot and simply enjoy himself. Leilani was so happy that they had funnel cakes and couldnt wait to eat one. We would definitely do this again. So at the end of the 7th inning we packed it up and decided to head back home so we can relax before calling it a night.

Tomorrow is chock full of running around getting errands taken care of, so I better rest up! Hopefully the week will be filled with more of the same gorgeous weather since I would love to spend these last few weeks of summer outdoors!
