Wonderful Fun Filled Weekend!

The weekend breezed by, and it's no wonder! We had a weekend chock full of activities that were just plain fun!

Friday morning, I woke up Lei, Chris, and Malik, donned thier swimsuits and sun protection and made our way to the beach. What a gorgeous day to be out there! The temp was perfect, not sweltering hot, but hot enough to deem it a beach day. And the water was delicious! We arrived at 9:45am and enjoyed the sand and water till 1pm. I packed up sandwiches, drinks and snacks and we had a beach blanket picnic. Of course when it was time to go, the children were bummed. But I promised that we would come back again next week, so they were happy.

Saturday was all planned out by Mike. We ran a couple of errands before going to White Castles for thier delectable little burgers. After lunch we went to Popcorn Zoo. We adore going here since this is a rescue zoo. The animals at this zoo have been abandoned or abused by thier previous owners. Unfortunately people underestimate all the work involved in caring for lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!). These animals along with alligators, monkeys, camels, and an array of other animals have found thier safe haven at Popcorn Zoo. And what is adorable, the kids can feed the animals peanuts and popcorn. How cool is that!

Sunday we went to family day at the racetrack. The kids enjoyed riding the ponies, jumping in the moonbounce and getting balloon sculptures. They had a blast guessing which horse would win each race too. Mike made $7 on a couple of little bets (we are not big gamblers) so he decided to use his winnings to take us for a treat. We went to ColdStone Creamery for ice cream. Wow! Mike and I split a Strawberry Blonde and it is heavenly! Lei, Chris, and Malik had cotton candy ice cream with mixed reese's in it! They said "It is the BEST!"

We returned home and were pooped! The kids vegged out in front of the television playing video games for the rest of the evening. We topped off the night with grilled chicken, with tater tots and onion rings. Then we called it a night.

What a wonderful way to spend the weekend!
